january 6 2024 .  the end of bubba da boatkat. 

i knew he was coming before he was born in 2006. he came to me on my birthday 2006. he was 5.5 weeks of age. he was scared.. he was injured and he was stuffed into my shirt for 8 hours of driving arpound for a friend md visits and tests. then he was kayaked to his safety on a 35 ft erikson m II. he shook himself off looked both ways and purred so loud. like a diesel engine.

that is how bubba da boatkat became bubba daboatkat. for 17.5 yrs he put up with my shenanigans and whims. we went to car shows, he seemed to love it.  we went to other ports of usa for sailing because he hated my leaving him behind once, and i promised him i would never leave him behind again… oops he shredded me for my selfish trip to caribbean without him. he also shredded his sitters….. he was perfect cat. he was guard dog he was furriend he was pal he was crew he saved boat he saved me i saved him. we were buddies for 17.5 yrs. he watched milky way with me. he watched fishies with me. he ate my catch.. he was awesome friend. he helped me thru the low and sad times after donny died in 2014. he let me know when anyone was close to the err HIS boat. he needed proper introduction when meeting folks so he would not shred them.

he told me to get my hoomin arse inside boat when patricia was coming to us…

he had been shrinking in size for a year. he started to pee green so i took him to his vet he didnt shred and we watched and helped him thru hard parts with vitramins for his liver.

we went to my moms home in phx 2 times. second time he was able to smell ocean when we were between culiacan and mazatlan on our way home. . he came alive. he was so excited to smell his home.

we got to vet and he didnt want to go in. but we did. i said goodbye with tears and hugs and love.

he was best boy ever and i miss him so much. our chapter has ended. 

what will be next….. this house is so very very empty without hijm here with us.

i deeply miss my boss, my furriend, my ruler of boat, my best companion. R I P bubba da boatkat. you were a once in a lifetrime cat. you were DA BEST good boy on planet earth.

even chico misses him. that part is very difficult.

so life changes. mucho sometimes like now. my boat onhard ha d been strippedinsideof what the thieves wanted and crushed the items intrinsic to operation o fboat, ie ram of otto pile it. nastiness. i am unableto repair boat withoiut my accumulated items for repairing it so i am dispoing it dammit.

AND boaktkat is ailing in his final ailments, liver issues. we are jabbing him weekly with vitamins and liver goodies. first time it was awesome — a huge change in affect and being, second one only lasted 2 days before he again urinated green . not good. so we are preopping, he and i for his demise, dammit. he did make 17.5 good years.now itis time to plan ahead. he and i will travel to mommas in mid december, if he is alive he will accompany me if not, he wont. easy peasy. dammit. he has been my companion and travel buddy for 17.5 years. that all started with a trip to a car show in 2007. he walked harnessed on lead and was a sooo very good boy.

he tolerated the mechanical monster in our bilges and went with me where we sailed. he drove in car well err rode hahaha i drove he rode sweetly not crazed like most cats in cars. he also flew to opb with me and back 2 times… he has 6000 road miles,. 6000 airmiles and over 10 000 sea miles. yes i will deeply miss this boy as i deeply miss my err our err his boat. best cat ever sailed with me in best boat for us ever. yes sad., yes flustrating as thieves should never win.

so wp has changed a lot in my site since my last posting.. i hope i can manage to make the appearance same as it was, as i liked what i finally configured.

itis christmas..holiday season for many different folks..

we may even have to go outside the home to meet up with others omg..

hopefully all are enjoying a cozy and comfortable time with family and friends.

bubba and chico are finally managing to tolerate each others company somewhat.. chico guards all home and contents along with bubba

we got a house to rent while fixing the m any issues with bird. poor boat has been thru some busy times without the needed maintenance .. before i got her she had a rough life, so tha tmust be addressed as well as personalization of interior and handling..the much needed repairs i sailed without performing need to be effected and so much more.

house is a 1 bedroom cute lil mexihouse in a very old section of mazatlan, aka 20 noviembre colonia. 50 yrs old and the lil houses arw very cool. mine is a box divided into 4 sections of equalish size, cochera, sala, kitchen and bedroom. patio out back is almost as big as house inside.. has fruit trees and a space for garden in which i want to grow foodstuffs.

there is a specific issue faced in the houses here, which is wicking of water from the high water table up in the concrete walls making the place look as if someone took a hammer to them and tried to destroy them so we will acid wash and dry acid wash then dry again and seal and paint..this should give the house at least 8 years of no ugliness inside and out.

cats are finally acclimating to house , neither has lived ion land since they were each very young..bubba didnt like this place for looong time– for 15.5 yrs he has lived in boat..why change, momms. is taking extra love and attention for him. he liked that home..chico is only 5 so is adapting easier.

life is always good-our choices make our challenges..

we need to go see owner of yard to make our deal for bird out of water experience. we are hoping this is not going to be a wallet breaker.

we have vendors passing by house regularly , which is awesome. fruits, veggies, nieves, gasa, even workers trying to find jobs, and collectors of stuff–appliances, cardboard, woods, everything. and abarrotes were a good vendor to catch. got a feather duster and a squeegie for the floors… as the larger superstores charge increasingly more, i use the vendors more often as pricing is less.. love my vendors.

so have yourself a merry lil christmas and enjoy life to the max.

thisis only 24 hours post otis thebeast from hell to alcaputo. the pictures i saw aftermaths were and are horrific. they werenot ready for this problem, they expected only tropical storm. they received cat 5 ….

i am sad for the people of acapulco. they endured a miserable night of hell. they never knew this issue before this day. everything is a mess. hospital, hotel , homes, businesses, roads .. all wrecked. no electricity, no interwebz no fones since evening october 24. they will be without lights and incommunicado for unknown duration. no electric — no pumps. means also do they have water….

anyone reading this who sailcruises or fishes west coast mexico please see what you can do to assist acapulco recover. they do need our aid.

i saw pictures of the bay, partials..holeeeemoleeeeee. nature has a mean disposition. the wreckiage is heartbreaking.

seems last year for my tooth work i had an ecg done for my own edification i didnot read said ecg, but looked at it superficially and fast. so yesterday i LOOKED at it and read it. oopsy. i have a right anterior fascicular block.
so.
i am keeping my electrolites at decent levels..i needto keep potassium over 4, and sodium needs to also be kept higher than normal in cardiac issues. conductivityis best with electrolites at proper functional levels.
so. i may sell my boat, dammit. this is my worst nightmare as i planned on outliving bubba daboatkat,m who is now 17 yrs old.
would also be good to outlive momma..
as i only have medicare i am not a surgical candidate so pacer is out of question.

this new format for this site sucks. i lost already one perfectly good draft to its whims and whimsys. aarrgghhh.

the haul was a wreck. much damage and much anger due to the issue presented. the issue was supposed to be my sailboat aka home of 16 yrs..hahahahaha thankyou to my alleged friend and the crane operator who is not employed by the yard i have a wreckage.. bow fg broken sprit platform, teak, broken, sprit needs removed but is ove water so cannot for a while, until bot is over land in full. lower bobstay fitting munched well. bobstay wrenched out of fitting and so much damage. roller furler necessary for the size of sail and distance over water to manage said sail is wrecked thankyou mario. i thought mario was a friend. i guess even friendships need haulouts..hahahahaha

and then friend said to me i need to sell as is where is because i will never recover the money from repairing..hahahahahaha. aint a friend to say that. that my DREAMS hahahahaha are not worth the effort to repair the boat(my HOME and travel). from what i saw, only decoration and one punched hole and one roller furler were sacrificed by the supervisor for me. appearance group doesnot make the boat.

there will be replaced taff rail and caprail–perota wood is less pricey than is unavailable teakwood, and just as pretty. will use that.

we have covered completely the topsides of boat–unfortunately at end of rain season. oh well. is covered. and unfortunately after the disappearance of my heavy cowl vents cast in 1976 in taiwan. BRONZE. oh well is only things.. ggrrr.. yard owner placed em nicely into my dinette and someone followed and removed them from my possession. also slept on my bed. and what i had on my bed has been removed from my boat. gotta admit this haul has been most unusual.

when i finally de anger i can begin to work on the bird and work with yard on the repairs and refit. i WILL again sail my boat. bubba will again lie in his home of 16 yrs. that cat truly misses his home. he loves boat.. so does chico but chico only loves it 6 yrs worth and bubba 16 yrs worth. i think bubba wins this one he also loses.. he seeks scent of boat daily to rest his head.
