playing ketch up

rainy 003 engine and stuff 029 engine and stuff 001

only numbers on this engine are these exact numbers....nothing indented at all.

only numbers on this engine are these exact numbers….nothing indented at all.

engine..disantled... and barra 015 engine and stuff 006got pumps out of boat, then found inability to cover transportation costs, which are almost same as rebuilding fees, both ways!!!

so we wait another month to send to shop—egads i am feeling crimped a tad.spent eating money on boat, as usual, so we tight until payday when we will try to get pumps to shop so we can effect mobility at some point……might have enough cat food for a month, i hope..lol…anyone got crackers? cheese???
rodlmao—i love this lifestyle, despite tight times.  makes it mpre interesting…..

poco a poco

have injector pump and lift pump out and off—bagged and ready to take to pump repair guy–some diaphragm problems with lift pump, and some , like, all the bolts broke off in th removal of lift pump from block–all to be repaired and or replaced as i can afford this effort.
havent even gotten the pumps to rebuilder yet and i am already over  this month’s quota..ok we wait again for next month…then send pumps to shop.
poco a poco.

ok so we…

engine and stuff 006engine and stuff 029engine and stuff 001aligned the engine –is within a mm of perfect, and my coupler takes care of that….
we have the motor mounts addressed and stiffened by securing them to boat..unique concept….
and we are making a list of what we need to buy and what we need to rebuild,
we also need to compression test this engine—havent got compression test tool so we need to find one…
then, gods willing, we can put it all back together in a more efficient manner–it was a true mess.

so far…

rainy 003rainy 002is not valve springs–we need to go find a compression tester and buy it for rest of engine check…this could take a few days….we also need to find the guy i was given fone number of so we can have injector pump rebuilt….
so we keep searching as we know these souls exist here–just under a good sized rock in summer..

the  il shaving was found in with   second from aftmost valve…..nice n clean, but how did it get there and why….

the  spatter ptttern on engine is odd..trying to find reason/cause….

and more….

repairs in pair a dice…..

erick..before 003 post erick sunrise 002001

so we are here in barra de navidad, actually the marina is isla navidad, just across the channel and in another estado, that of colima…20 miles north of manzanillo.
we removed the fuel tank that as problematic for so long, we will replace it with one we create, and it will have the appropriate pick up…for a change…
we will be tearing into engine soon–had to make room in bilge for mechanic to fit with engine…hard to do that with the fuel tank in place, so is a great time to do these changes.

dont know yet what it is gonna be as regards repairs of engine—havent gotten to that place yet…we will post pix of this repair situation we are doing–have the wifi, may as well post pix for a change–
is gorgeous here in summer.

runaway diesel

yup. just what i said—seems the symptoms we saw behind us in ocean were signs of oil and carbon an d stuff not spozed to be there….and so we made it into barra, as yáll know, and i anchored in the lagoon, which yáll know, and as we began to raise anchor the diesel decided to…..
what i said…
no overheat.
no detonate.
cracked all injectors to make it stop, after the kill button was shown to not be appropriate way to cease function of engine. so compression broken we were able to breathe again–took just under 5 minuets.
the post adrenalin shakes lasted 12 hours.
funny thing–the smoke attracted fishermen who assisted in bringing boat into marina, so is safe now…..
and steering cable popped off the quadrant as we were being towed….and we went grounded as we were towed—good thing is soft bottom here..lol…and the vhf didnt work for a bit–fixed connections, it does now…
has been a lil exciting this week…..

we may be here a while…..
