anyone  wishing to  come here, please wait until i get to guaymas and we can have a repair party. right now i am only trying to patch together this  brokenness so i can make it   to   haul and fix yard  for cheapo….

for christmas i want a running engine….lol–repair guy is in place  for this–only  problem seems to be the engine its  and its cooperativity.

happy holidays to everyone, i will  wish later the specific holidays…as they arrive

coming along

my engine is resistent to repair for now… we broke the woodruff key for the crankshaft bolt, so we find a new one and then further work ….cannot turn crank without this lil piece of metal.
we will go to melaque to find one and be back on this project in no time.
i will be in the anchorage in december….looking forward to the   daily  breezes…

update….

we  found the   key thingies in melaque.   we will look for the head gasket when we take head to  machinists.

head gasket

and so as our problem has come to head gasket at present, before we go onward i must wait until payday in december.
so we will have a panga tow me to the mangroves when payday comes and we will work there, where i am safe from dragging anchor and free of rent so we can fix me for christmas.

hopefully.

until payday, nothing happens.

had i known this was the case i would have gone to  mangroves already instead of sitting in a marina with itchy feet unable to  do anything or go   anywhere with a seized engine.

the head gasket problem was caused by the runaway  bit   this engine did in june, and now is seized as a result of all of this mayhem….

new engine color scheme

new engine color schemeught the    drop year was 1982, but i was  incorrect. it was  june  1988.  ok..  still has no indented numerals on it anywhere.  yes we searched!!!

ok so we were trying for noisey and smelly and leaky today.
we got clunk.  so we fixed battery connections…. funny  the electrical system works some better now…
ok
second clunk day.  hhmmmmmmmm….
and of course, no one has a prybar for the fly wheel.
ok. .tomorrow we go for unclunk and big noise and smelly and leaky and prolly muy smokey. we just see what color smokey after unseizing engine..
ok…..

i am sooo ready to move this barge out to anchor……

poco a poco……

ready to sail high season, but…..

we have still engine parts to find today, and  then i    need to  leave marina for   lagoon..is happier on anchor.

banda anchqa  works…

wifi doesnt    work, despite being delivered allegedly to boats in amrina from    wannabe 5 star posher than   most places hotel.. i figger if they cannot  reliably deliver   wifi to  the locations they promise   to deliver it, that they are not 5 stars..the wifi is 1 star wifi.   i still cannot figger how th edesk guy  gets     such good results and the  tech  guy cannot make the system work.   hhmmmmmm

today we hunt   tiny parts for engine–we need the   small   rubber   gaskets/washers fro the   fuel line fittings that    fit to the  injector pump and    injectors…. this could be an interesting day.  we will be   going anywhere from 6 miles to 70 miles from   barra on bus… 70 miles is a sure thing–pump  rebuilder!!   so we will work out way there, and if find parts before  70 miles, awesome. if not…ok….we go back to  pump rebuild guy,  as  he has em.

pix of engine  colors coming soon….lol     artist putting   specialized   stuffies on it.   heeheehee

tis amazing…

what a little routine maintenance will do as far as keeping things cheep..lol….
fixed air conditioner in 30 mins..not too shabby. runs great now, and is dry.
bubba is happy. he dislikes humid and hot. funny thing about that and his fuurrzzz…he whined and bit me until i fixed it…now he sleeps in best cool breeze in boat….smart cat.
and we can put off the purchase of nother air conditioner for another season or two….

summering in barrra de navidad

means time in a marina with minimal amenities and reasonable summer pricing.

there is no , repeat NO wifi to boats. none zero. get your own banda ancha, and that may not work, for your 500 pesos monthly to telcel or your favorite carrier. .

no calling mom or other family members via skype.

no contacting your bank for important things or other business.
arrange own propane delivery or car pool with someone owning a vehicle here.
arrange own drinking water delivery.
uhoh make a regulator for the dock water so you dont blow hoses out … the water pressure is awesome high.
it is gorgeous here and a decent furycame hole.

do not expect on board wifi as is offered in the other marinas i have found in mexico. it is not merely not offered, it is denied. it used to be provided by the hotel, however, that change was made this summer. very interesting.

if there are any positive changes i will advise.

seems the name of the tech guy at hotel who is supposed to be repairing this intermittently delivered alleged amenity has name of carlos.
funny how only one desk guy has been able to fix the problem yet the tech guy is not able to so do…and now there is a key to the room in which modem is locked. hhmmmmm

winter rates here are, for a 40 ft   boat,  14000 pesos monthly.  peso is  12.9 to one usdollar.  fluctuations  will be noticed with fluctuation of  us dollar. NO   ON BOARD WIFI.

in summer the rate   has been 4100ish to 44 00¡ish pesos  monthly.

in winter this rate  rises to 14000pesos per month fro a small boat like mine,  itis  hard to   rationalize  no on board wifi for that fee.

and….my  bank card was  en route here.   conciergess  knew this.   she was aware of my   full name, so she didnt have the excuse   for  doing   what she did….

my  fed ex package was sent to me in a timely fashion.   everything was going ok until it got to colima.

seems it went to   water taxi dock insteadof to   desk.    man signed.   before i went to find this ,   2 days and half had passed   from time of delivery until i found this fact.  the man who signed for it   had called her multiple times with my name an d the package   was here.   i had  called  multiple times    speaking with her and she denied its existence. i spoke  decent spanish with her as i know  she  fakes her english. she wentinto machine     th e concierge named  isaias  was working with me, and  she    made a   sound when she saw the name of the signatory. she immediately disappeared and came back all smiley happy with my package.   i had already  cancelled my card and she knew it.  she caused outflow  of another  150 usd for delivery of a second card, and  was   screwing with my   ability to   obtain my own money  while here in mexico. i had just called the desk and  spoken with her about it. then i showed up in   lobby

i reported her actions, as i didnt know what else to do .

seems she was also refusing to advise   carlos about need to reset wifi and the need for  maintenance on it.   womans boss    made wifi work.   he also assured me i willno longer have a problem.

awesome news

from pump rebuilder—-all 3 bits we took in for rebuilding are finished–they only took one day–must be bored this season…..heat exchanger for transmission, injector pump for full rebuild, and lift pump for bolt removal and mebbe a a diaphragm for that item…..less than 3000 pesos…
now i was advised my injector pump would break me for price to rebuild—what does it cost in overpriced sin diego—over 1000usd???? …. i know someone from a reasonably priced locale quoted me 800 usd for a partial rebuild–lol….
we so rock.
thankyou so much my guardian angels for allowing me to break down in a lovely location with excellent pump repair souls who work for much less money than in usa.
god loves mexico

and so he found agua salina deep inside my injector pump, which as i recall was an add on before i was sent the engine—origin unknown — so i dont know its history–but while i had this engine so far, no sea water has come into engine. the injector pump is only place this happened.
what the innards of the pump looked like was ugly black goopy sandy mess… lots of grit.
the sea water was yellow and very old…..so i was fortunate it lasted this long–about 3000 miles–while translates into engine hours by multiplying that number by 3 kts- getting 9000 hours??? more time than i thought….but was only just under 3000 miles, so far–so we have been very very fortunate.
now the engine i properly aligned, finally, and the efficiency of the engine room has been addressed, extraneous wiring removed–finally, and we just await the trip to fetch back the parts and reinstall em….
the different parts are being painted different colors–lowest into darkness are painted light colors with some neon orange to perk up the mayhem…pix will come after the painting and reassembly are completed….
it will be gooooood to regain mobility.

what is wrong with this pic, or look before you untie ……

i have been sailing in tropics now for a couple of years and in mexico for 3 years now. i have had pleasant uninvited guests on my boat– gekkos rock–wonderful guests-one doesnt even mind the poop…skeeter eatr swallows on my bow …
coatimundis are interesting–quiet, stinky , want garbage without bug spray in it……make a thump when landing on your deck…..
even a young iguana one evening ….

last night we had a freshening breeze which kinda caught one of my tarps to flapping and one line slapping–not normal-002

003

004

005-so i went out to investigate…. readjusted tarps for higher winds, tied lower on the stanchions, closer to deck so as to catch no air, went all around my boat to chek everything.
this morning i went on same rounds and decided to readjust one of my port midship lines–was hanging in water, and that isnt necessarily a good thing in tropical waters. so i start to ready lines for readjustment when i hear a loud hiss and see a ok, imagonnagetyooo face coming at my paws fangs first….ok……you can have this rope..i have more…..so i went around the loong way and got my camera and took some pix–he wasnt gonna go anywhere–he was happy in my lines, prolly tired from swimming in a storm last night……
then i used my radio and called marina management for extrication of critter from my deck please…
6 grown men arrived. we couldnt find snakee..omg…searched well–didnt find the bastid…. men leave, we all happy …. i bring bubba outdoors fro a bit, tie his leash and go to finish what i started before that mayhem began…..ok handling the 7/8 3 strand on the horns of my midships horned hawse—HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS holyshiteok, i am not ready for this yet……went to get my gaffs with as long handles as possible—-push the bastid some…hoh .he mad now….put the rope in his face to get him to bite so i can lift his snakeass up over the bulwarks and overboard. uncooperative bastid wouldnt hold on…..lol..he seems to be a hit and run kinda killer..ok..and nyaah ye misssed me ‘nakey–here is this—–more rope–nope not a chance… total 7 strikes at me not the rope, and i decided this snake was ready for the seguridades again–so i went to find them –didnt find em but i found some he men from the fishing cooperativa…we went to check the deal out…..lol..when i got back the visitor had gotten hidden under my solar panel out of the sun.

(yes i have pix…rodlmao…but only of the snake…snakee was kinda cute.)
so we searched yet again for nakee–found him so they could see him, and discuss it an d laugh and snerk—-
they called the seguridad yet again as they were askeereded of the damnable thing–i was just pissed off at it and didnt want it to die–so….they–now is 2 cooperativa dudes and 2 seguridades, called in the maintenance man–he had a stick with forked end and got the lil guy and let the snakee wind itself around the forked end and held it way far away from his bod as he walked to the oficina de seguridades……

h0w many big strong mans does it take to rid a formosa 41 of a tiny poison?? snake..

btw–dont forget to look at your lines before you find stuff hiding in there—surprises are not always good
