marina mazatlan

so far, so good— bubba doesnt like always being on leash, but he isnt going anywhere from the boat this way–seems thre was a recent outbreak of what is known in usa as feline leukeimia among the ferals here and they were put down, so is good to keep bubby tethered for his health.
boat is happy in her slip–patricia belles slip, actually, and the flies and skeeters are and have done a great job on their new buffet treat–me–LOL….durng night time i am awakened by the merciless buzzing of my face—will definitely have to make screens for this boat!!!
still in process of installing -agin- my solar panels and tarping this boat for comfort and breezes… soon will be rain— at east that is what everyon eis hoping for–
will haul out in fall before i leave here for southern waters to replace my cutlass bearing and mebbe add some paint to bottom…. could use that…
still dealing with the efforts of alleged friends who rented my other boat sans permission and kept half the dough despite the boat not being his—- isnt friendly thing to do, but then some folks have a strange idea of what is a friend…
life is goood–too good to have to be reminded there are folks in htis world who are only after their own interests….
my momma is recovering well from a knee replacement–
has been a lovely summer so far—- should get hotter and moister before full hurrycame season sets in…. have a lot to do for topsides water removal…LOL..MORE TARPS!!!!
lookin got have made a pair of biminis for covering helm seat and companinway– dodger is not necessary as no water comes up in seas— so i will place bimini instead with a removable rain dodge for sliding hatch…somehow..LOL
hve a double layer tarping for kat to have some coolness–he is sooo hot here, but finds a cool spot under tarps for self to watch all around him… he is such a gooood kat.

repairs!!!!!

tomorrow at 0930-1000 comes to my boat a repair person who will do underwater work and my alternator bracket repair…will also help me get cat litter for bubby and some foods so he doesnt have anymore palpitations from low love level in his bucket into which i place his canned food(love, in his mined)– soon we willhead to marina mazatlan for hurrycame protection… if they will have us..LOL..we dont know the personnel or the criteria held for incoming boats– we do have insurance for a yr– in mm we can get our fm3 and receive incoming mailings.. we willalso get another fone as soon as possible and/or skype with a fone number–is only 2.x cents per minute for that feature–might as well use it!
is nice here— i hope i will be able to find crew formy adventures out of here–if not, me n bubby n simrad will have to go for it as a team…but is so much more funner with human aid and companionship….

fish!!!!!!!!( i didnt catch it, tho..)

was gifted a  bit of albacore and some mangos last nite– decided to make somehting out of it…..

took  3-4 small to med mangos and added 1 can thickish (thai) cconut milk and  some water to thin it with, just about 1-2 cups, and  added  enough  white onion slices to equal a small onion and added 3 garlic cloves sliced.   also sliced  a serrano i had dried, placed 4-5  small slices into this mix and cooked it until flavors were mixed well. then i added a pound and half of albacore and cooked until  just  cooked thru…. about 5 min.  wow!!!

add peanut butter–about 2 tsp, for  a different flavor,  can  use this with anything — fish, chicken and shellfish and shrimp–lol… what a magic  discovery!!

the sailing part of our adventures……

we left april 7th from san diego  on prefrontal winds- some to 25+kts, under jib n jigger.. was a good sail – we didnt run out of wind until salsipuedes,  at which time  i looked at  one of my crew and decided to go into ensenada….. there wasnt much  breeze anymore and what we had at that time was flukey and weak.   on our way into ensenada harbor, before we actually got to  the entrance,  the ships bell fell—- oops -i was having thoughts about  trying to finish to  turtle bay,  but the bell made my  brane  scream  we needed to enter ensenada– so we did.  we  docked at  botes juanitos,  a friendly and family run  organization, where i remained for 1 week, when newport ensenada racers arrived– i was anchored in harbor for that .    after the week   of anchoring, i  docked at  ensenda marina for  a couple of weeks– found crew i didnt get along withand  was gifted a flubug as a result— took 3 weeks to rid meself of that one.

sailing out of ensenada  may 6th  with juan lu from botes juanitos was  a goood trip–we made cedros with only a few major repairs done while  underway–sold my avon and  nissan  3.5 HP engine for  diesel and oil and filters…..  by cedros,  found the starter wasnt  functional anymore— sailed on 25 kt  breezes half   way   down cedros onth einside before running out of air—  became  becalmed for 36 hours, making  fun looking patterns with spot.

dawn  monday we finally made   it thru the entrance into  the bay  at the village of cedros, where remained for 4  or so days  repairing a starter which turned out to be the wrong one for my perkins 4-108. came off the westerbeke 4-107  that  was in the bird  when purchased by me.

when finally we were repairwed and   everything was functional ,  we  left cedros after a night f partying with some of juan lu’s friends who reside  on cedros.

we sailed nicely under  reeefed  jib and  reeefed  mizzensail for most of the  way to cabo–during the nght  north of cabo we encountered some decent brezes  measuring 60 kts on  our anemometer.  we broke 8 ktson speed under sail f or jib n  jigger  formosa sailing..LOL… most folks i heard  have reported 4 kts  without reefing….oops–  we did receive seas over the  bulwarks at the waist of  my ship–lol but the cockpit remained dry– these boats dislike quartering seas—- everything   waas everywhere– we had a lot of chop but the tops of seas were still not windblown–LOL… rolly ride but fast!!!!

cabo   was reached at daybreak– actually the time was 0530— fueled with 20 gallons diesel– felt  20 gallons  more appropriate than 15 ….  we left with prediction of goood  breezes  for us, and received glassy seas  no  more than  an hour out of cabo san lucas,  lasting until  mazatlan.

arrived in mazatlan old harbour with  a total of 3 gallons diesel remaining in  tanks..LOL…….  close one !!  i  saw the masts of my friends” schooner  before we  arrived at the  opening to the harbour, and   we anchored  near them — there  were 3  sailing boats   owned by cruisers  on our arrival– patricia belle, schooner,  third day, a  force 50 ketch, and a  cute lil traditional cutter named arctic tern, out of maine.

so faqr, there has been a  pacific low  offshore  stalled, so winds ar eon the noses of those  sailing north — looks to be  dissipating vs relocating by week‘s end, so my neighbors will be  abandoning this  harbour for  points north…for hurrycame season, it has been recommended i  go to marina mazatlan for  docking  behind the condos, where the wind is blocked, so i will try that, at least until i am repaired again  and up and running…..

i still have to repair my alternator bracket, polish my fuel and  install a racor system for the fuel lines. a lil diesel wont hurt, either-LOL

i will also replace my bottom fishing gear– was removed from boat while in cedros–oops along with my ipod  which was gift to me  pior to leaving sd….. oh well– juan lu installed my stereo, so i have tunes again… hooooyaahh..man was worth his weight in 24 kt gold….

i LOVE my formosa even tho formosa my life i will need to work on her– the  decorative cap was  destroyed  by winds  when i was using it for  anchoring my  mizzen  preventer–oops—–there are some goood hardwoods here in mexico– will make  one out of one of those instead of teak— mebbe will last a lil longer than just 37 or so yrs.>LOL

still seeking  souls who  desire to sail with me— am always open for crew!!

isla cedros

wow–after some wonderful speedy and fun sail we began to encounter difficulties with fuel– dirt in filters cause no go …..after 5 times of this, we found the starter was n o longte rfunctional– it is totally fired–armature and bendix gone to toast–ouch- so am stuck in cedros until i have one a doze for making engine go– we had to sail in circles as the wind stopped half way down island– for 24 hours were sailing slowly in current in circles!!!! goo dthing ther ear eno rocke or any thing like that to kill boat in our way– only say 3 tugboats with barges coming at us in darkness— whew–so now we ar ein cedros awaiting starter—-hopefully i can get that done tomorrow and head out– lost a full day !! i thought was monday here– is tue!!!! and is mothers day here—so todo es cerrado….lol
trying to keep up with spot– i guess i didnt punch correct button — tried to send ok signal– guess i didnt figure that part out well enough– am punching track eery time i see it not sending— caugth 2 beautiful bonita– deeelishusss….. kat is ok– scared, but fine…..had to sell inflatable avon dink and engine in ensenada for only 300 dollars– eeps– gonna miss that so much — was my work platform…..

wow–momma and bro came thru so i can eat foods on my way to  mazatlan and have diesel for the trip without running out!!!!  hoooyaaahh!!!!  thankyou, family and   wow!!!  i will make sure i am in a situation in future with free anchoring no rent to pay…then i can actually save some  money…

left leg is  warm and   fine— just waiting to leave now– checking out of  port today and will proceed  before sundown tomorrow..

getting ready….

water loaded on today— sold a gps i didnt need for that one– stillhaving a abit of a time trying to find the money fo r foods–only need some….. willtrade a vhf hand held unit for fuel…LOL.. gotta love mexico…
